TODAY. Regulate your breath. Take long slow deep breaths. Count the length of the in breath. Take long slow out breaths. Count the length of the out breath. Notice the relationship. Consciously shift it. Taking equal length breaths in and out. See what happens. Pay attention to the difference. Add a holding count at the top of the inhale and bottom of the exhale. Again notice the relationship.
How did that change your body? Your mind? Your inner state?
As you play, discover, and bring awareness here… make note of which patterns of breathing relax you, which ones energize you, which ones stabilize you. Forget about what you might have learned, read or been taught… for this moment. Become your own teacher and discover your body response to these pranayamas. Breathe forcefully out your nose. Breathe evenly. Initiate Ujjayi breathing. Try different things. With understanding and skill we can use our breath as a tool to regulate everything from our mood to our blood pressure. Get curious about this tool today, and use it in some way during your day to help you. Remember…. Keep Breathing!
